Supplying the correct presentation is essential to any business and any misrepresentation can lead to unhappy or otherwise disgruntled customers. It is for this reason you must learn how to ‘set the mood’. Just as it is important to set the mood when building a new romantic relationship; it is also very important to set the mood when building your customer’s relationship with you and your company. Having the correct staff in place (those that know how to ‘set the mood’) will ensure happy customers and repeat business.
So, how do you Set the mood?
First and foremost- You must understand the level of service your company would like to convey. Is this a fast food restaurant or a 5 star dining restaurant? You wouldn’t be performing table-side wine service at McDonalds would you?
Second- You must Evaluate your customers. Do they earn a higher income? Are they family oriented? Older? Younger? Are they in a rush? Are they dining with a work colleague or family member? All of these factors are important when adjusting your service style to suit the needs of your customer.
Third- You must know your strengths and boundaries. Do you have a keen memory recall for details? Are you charming? Do you get frustrated easily?
Once you have asked yourself these essential questions above then you may move on to providing the best suited service possible to fit your customer. Remember the best is to really listen to your customer, and what they want. If you listen you can win any customer.
